Account & Data Deletion
Last updated: 22 May 2026
You can delete your DYVE account, and the personal data we hold about you, at any time. This page explains how — both from inside the app and via email if you've lost access to it.
The fastest way: delete from inside the app
- Open DYVE on your phone and sign in.
- Tap the Settings tab.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
- Confirm. We'll ask once to be sure, then the deletion runs immediately.
The deletion happens server-side as well as on your device. There's nothing else you need to do.
If you can't open the app
If you've uninstalled DYVE, lost access to the email address you signed up with, or otherwise can't reach the in-app delete, email us:
Email: dyveevents@gmail.com
Subject line: "Account deletion request". Include:
- The email address, phone number, or sign-in method you used to create the account (so we can find you).
- Your name on the profile, if you remember it.
- Confirmation that you're the account holder.
We'll action it within 7 days of receiving the request and email you to confirm once it's done. If we need to verify your identity before deleting (rare, only when we can't otherwise confirm you own the account), we'll reply with what we need.
What gets deleted
When you delete your account, DYVE removes the following from our systems:
- Your profile (name, date of birth, gender, bio, interests, lifestyle preferences).
- Your profile photos.
- Your matches, swipe history, hidden and blocked users.
- Your saved events.
- Messages you sent (your half of each conversation).
- Your notification preferences and notification inbox.
- Your push-notification tokens — so a deleted account doesn't keep getting pinged.
- Any "Go Together" event invites you sent or received.
- Your group-chat memberships.
- Your organiser balance, if you'd bought tokens to broadcast event updates.
We also remove the references to your account that live on other users' devices — for example, your "matched with" record on someone else's side, your entry in another user's "liked by" list, your membership row in any group you belonged to. You stop appearing in other people's apps as soon as the deletion completes.
What is retained, and why
A small set of records is kept after account deletion, for safety, legal, or audit reasons:
- An archived copy of your basic account record is held for approximately 30 days in a locked-down archive (used only for fraud-prevention and dispute resolution), and then removed.
- Moderation reports you submitted, or reports submitted about you, are kept so we can act on patterns of abuse — even after the reported or reporting account is deleted.
- Public event listings you created as an organiser remain visible to the community. Events belong to the people attending them; deleting your account doesn't retroactively shrink other people's calendars. The "created by" field on those events becomes a reference to your deleted-account archive rather than your live profile.
- The other party's half of any conversation stays on their device — they still own their side of a chat you both had. Your side is removed from your account.
Subscription payments
If you have an active DYVE Premium subscription, deleting your DYVE account doesn't automatically cancel it — subscriptions are managed by the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android). To stop being charged, cancel the subscription separately:
- iOS: Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions → DYVE → Cancel Subscription
- Android: Google Play Store → your profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → DYVE → Cancel
